Want to help restore the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay? We can give you nearly 4 BILLION reasons why you should!
The Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) along with its coalition of partners, have produced and planted nearly 4 BILLION oysters on 1,500 acres of oyster reefs. As the non-profit leader of Maryland's large-scale oyster restoration activities, ORP founded the region's first Shell Recycling Alliance to recycle nearly 1200 tons of used oyster shells from area restaurants. ORP also supports the Marylanders Grow Oysters program that enables homeowners to grow oysters at their docks and provides numerous aquaculture and wild fishery support services.
Oysters are critical to the long-term recovery of the Chesapeake Bay and used to filter the entire Bay in just days. Now, it takes years. Oyster reefs also provide crucial habitat for other important marine life to survive. Please help us make a difference. Just a few dollars can give thousands of baby oysters new homes!
